GVC 2008.5
This version fixes the video quality issue that was there in the previous version. The -qmin and -qmax parameters were being ignored and the video was being encoded at a quantizer level of 31. This caused a big drop in quality.
In this version the option for choosing the encoding mode has been removed. Now there is only a fixed quantizer mode and a single slider which controls the video quality. There are many minor bugfixes.

Hi there,
I was looking for some software to convert MP4 (M4A) files to MP3 files so I coul upload it to my Zen Micro, for free. And GVC feet my needs, thank you very much!
BUT, I had to use version 2008.3, further versions (.4 and .5) would fail when converting proccess starts.
If you want a more detailed feedback, just ask (I filled the “Mail” field with my real email).
Peace

Hi,
I’m glad you found it useful. I’m aware of the problem with mp4 files. There was a small bug. It has been fixed. The next version of GVC will be out soon.

Yes, I am experiencing the same problem, I am trying to convert an .avi file to a zune file, which is mp4. Everytime I try converting I get 2 error reports when the converting process starts.
Try and get the new version out soon!
Thanks

Oh, I’m glad to hear that. Will be looking forward for the new version.
Btw, in my previous comment I made some typos: by “coul” I mean “could” and by “feet” I mean “fit”.
